After dedicating three decades of his life to the radio industry, Byrne's journey took an unexpected detour into bus driving, where he served as the coach-captain for Port Stephens Coaches. However, in a move that many will consider a homecoming, Byrne will step back into the radio landscape come early February. He will be operating out of Newcastle, where his responsibilities will include overseeing local content and enhancing the overall strategic direction of the Super Radio Network.
Rhys Holleran, the chief executive officer of Super Radio Network, emphasized that Byrne’s hiring underscores their commitment to local content development. "Mike is widely regarded as one of the leading content figures in the industry, especially in Newcastle, where his reputation is well-established," Holleran remarked.
