Nolan McLean's Vertigo Battle: A Delayed Arrival at WBC Camp
In a recent development that has caught the attention of baseball enthusiasts, Nolan McLean, the talented pitcher for the New York Mets, has encountered a setback on his journey to join Team USA at the World Baseball Classic (WBC) training camp. McLean's path has been momentarily sidetracked by vertigo-like symptoms, but he remains determined to suit up for his country.
"I'm on the mend," McLean assured reporters on Tuesday. "I've been throwing consistently, even though I pushed through some vertigo symptoms last week. This week, I'm feeling much better."
Carlos Mendoza, the Mets' manager, explained that McLean started experiencing vertigo symptoms and a loss of appetite on Friday night. Instead of joining Team USA's camp in Scottsdale, Arizona, he stayed with the Mets in Port St. Lucie, Florida, where he began to recover on Saturday.
"He pitched on Sunday and will throw again on Wednesday," Mendoza shared. "If all goes well, he'll join Team USA afterward."
But here's where it gets controversial... Mark DeRosa, Team USA's manager, has stated that he will reassess McLean's situation "day to day." This leaves room for speculation and raises questions about McLean's availability for the upcoming games.
And this is the part most people miss... While McLean's condition is a concern, the WBC roster is stacked with talented pitchers. San Francisco Giants' ace Logan Webb will take the mound for Game 1 against Brazil, followed by Tarik Skubal (vs. Britain) and Paul Skenes (vs. Mexico).
So, will McLean's vertigo symptoms keep him from representing his country? Or will he make a swift recovery and join Team USA in time for the tournament? Only time will tell.
