NFL Draft 2026: 42 Players with Special Eligibility Announced (2026)

In a significant move for aspiring NFL players, the league has announced that 42 individuals have been granted special eligibility for the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. This announcement also includes 21 underclassmen who have successfully completed their degree requirements while still retaining college football eligibility, thus making them eligible for selection in this year's draft set to take place from April 23 to April 25 in Pittsburgh.

What’s particularly interesting is that among these players, 16 took the initiative to apply for special eligibility before the newly implemented early "soft" deadline on January 5. This change was introduced to aid both the players and the organizers of all-star games in their planning and invitation processes. Additionally, another 26 players submitted their applications before the traditional deadline of January 14, requesting special eligibility for the draft. It’s important to note that this list does not encompass players participating in the FBS National Championship Game scheduled for January 19; for those athletes, a specific “Championship” deadline of January 23 has been established.

Each of the 42 players who have made the list has adhered to the league's eligibility rule, which requires that they have completed three years of play, and they have formally renounced their college football eligibility by providing written notification to the league office by the January 14 cut-off date. As a result, these players are now set to be eligible for selection:
